Accommodation

The Castle Green Hotel is one of the largest hotels in the area with 99 rooms in total. Most, but not all, have been recently refurbished and now feature a bright, modern décor. You can opt for a standard room that benefits from en suite facilities with complimentary toiletries, a television, free Wi-Fi, and a hospitality tray that includes biscuits.

Alternatively, for an extra special stay, choose a Garden View room or an Executive room. Garden view rooms look out onto the delightful landscaped gardens, and some include private balconies. Executive rooms are housed in the original Victorian mansion, are very spacious with high ceilings, and some include four-poster beds.

You won’t struggle to find something to eat at the Castle Green Hotel. The Greenhouse Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner, and has been awarded two AA rosettes. The restaurant boasts of an open kitchen, and views out to the garden. A tasting menu celebrates the very best of Cumbrian produce, whilst the main menu has a strong local influence.

The Greenhouse Bar and Lounge features cosy booths and open fires with a menu that includes light bites and scrumptious mains, as well as cocktails and coffees. For ale fans, Alexanders is worth a visit. The pub is housed in a former stable block on the hotel’s grounds, and is very popular with local residents. Alongside locally brewed ales, you will find a great selection of traditional pub grub with a Cumbrian flair.

Additional Facilities & Services

Pulse Health and Fitness is located within the Castle Green Hotel, and all hotel guests are entitled to access the centre’s facilities free of charge, with the exception of spa treatments that must be booked and paid for separately. The centre has a small gym spread over two rooms, with a selection of cardiovascular and strength training equipment. Fitness classes take place daily, and personal training sessions are available for an additional charge. There is a small swimming pool and a steam room. At the spa, you can indulge yourself with one of a number of treatments that include massages, facials, and scrubs.

The hotel has a range of function suites available for parties, civil weddings (including ceremonies) and meetings. Packages that include food, etc. are available.

Live for Today are an independent activity company based in the grounds of the hotel. They offer a range of activities, including archery, bushcraft, and high ropes. The activities must be booked separately.

Christmas is a magical affair at the Castle Green Hotel with Santa himself making a special guest appearance. You can enjoy a traditional Sunday dinner with Santa during December, with a children’s entertainer keeping the children amused before presents are handed out.

If you want to celebrate New Year’s Eve but want someone else to do all the hard work, then consider booking into the Castle Green Hotel. The hotel’s New Year package includes accommodation, an afternoon buffet with live music, a five-course gala dinner and black tie ball, and fireworks on New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Day, there is a late brunch, followed by a guided countryside walk.
